There is also a wealth of information on outdoor activities which are available throughout Angus but particularly in the Glens.
If you are interested in walking then www.visitscotland.com/walking is a great source of routes and trails no matter what your ability. In particular, check out the Seaton Cliffs Nature Trail, Arbroath and Montrose Basin - House of Dun routes if you are interested in coastal birds and nature. The circular route from Edzell to the Rocks of Solitude is very beautiful at any time of the year whilst those more serious walkers may wish to bag Mount Keen, the Eastern most of Scotland's Munroes.
The Angus area is steeped in history. You can discover the story of Scotland's ancient past at Pictavia www.pictavia.org.uk or why not visit Edzell Castle and Gardens www.historic-scotland.gov.uk or Glamis Castle, the childhood home of the late Queen Mother and setting for Shakespeare's "Macbeth" www.glamis-castle.co.uk. Dundee, just half an hour's drive away, is home to the famous ship RRS Discovery where you can follow in the footsteps of Captain Scott and his crew www.rrsdiscovery.com and the Verdant Works which takes you back in time to experience life in Dundee at the height of the jute industry www.verdantworks.com
If it is a taste of Scotland's most famous export you are after then our most local distillery is Fettercairn whose visitor centre is open Monday - Saturday from Easter to September.
Visiting with Kids? If the weather is fine then the Montrose Splash beach park is worth a visit and won't cost you a penny! The Montrose Basin Wildlife centre is a fun place to go and find out about and view local wildlife www.montrosebasin.org.uk. There are also a number of indoor play centres close by. Although we have a pool at the hotel, if you are looking for something a wee bit different then the Stonehaven Heated Open Air Pool is less than half an our away www.stonehavenopenairpool.co.uk Both Dundee and Aberdeen have science centres which are worth a visit www.satrosphere.net and www.sensation.org.uk

New Year Accommodation Package
£199 per person for 2 nights, arriving on Friday 31st December 2010 and departing on Sunday 2nd January 2011.
£250 per person for 3 nights, arriving on Thursday 30th December 2010 and departing on Sunday 2nd January 2011.
All rates are inclusive of dinner, bed & breakfast for the duration of your stay, our Hogmanay Dinner Dance and a light buffet lunch on the 1st.
Thursday 30th December 2010 (3 night package)
Arrival from 3pm. Unpack and get settled before relaxing by the fire in our lounge bar. Dinner will be served from 6-9pm.
Friday 31st December 2010 (2 night package arrival from 3pm)
Breakfast will be served from 8-9.30am. This would be a good day to visit some local attractions, there are lots of suggestions on our links page but don't forget to check opeing times before setting out! Our Hogmanay Dinner Dance starts at 7pm. Meet in the bar before heading through to our function suite to enjoy a delicious 3 course meal followed by coffee. You can then dance out 2010 as our band plays a great mixture of ceilidh and popular music. Just before midnight you will receive a glass of sparkling wine and be invitied to come outside and watch our fantastic firework display as the bells chime. The band will continue to play until 1am.
New Year's Day Saturday 1st January 2011
Ease into the New Year with breakfast from 8am then relax by the fire or take a dip in our pool. A light buffet lunch will be served from 12 noon then a walk around the village or out to the Rocks of Solitude will take you through to dinner at 6pm.

Breakfast will be served from 8am prior to departure.
Mid-Week Golf Breaks (Sun - Thurs only)
Book a midweek golf break at The Glenesk Hotel from £45 per person per night B&B!
Dinner, bed & breakfast package is also available from £60 per person per night.
Both these deals are for accommodation only, based on 2 people sharing and are subject to availability.
Receive discounted green fees from local golf courses by booking tee times through the hotel. Please contact Gordon for further information or advice on the best local courses to play. He will happily make recommendations based on your ability and preferred course type to ensure that you experience the best of what our local Angus and Aberdeenshire courses have to offer.
